The news is coming out that Facebook has blocked the media house National Dastak that has been vocal about the issues of Dalits and backward community in India. There has been a news published on the website of National Dastak that Facebook is displaying a message “Facebook bans you for sharing any link on your page.” The National Dastak website claims that there has no any intimation or information given in this regard to the National Dastak team.
Block on National Dastak’s Facebook page is disturbing and a direct attack on a fearless media house who dare to question establishments and critical to historically set models, which is exploitative and unjust. In India, Brahminical lobbies control the media houses, and even recruitment is preferably offered to the upper castes in these media houses. In this system, National Dastak builds its reputation among the socially backward and Dalit communities, who have been deprived for centuries regarding expressing their opinion fearlessly.
National Dastak says “The purpose of National Dastak is to make aware the nuances of the exploitation of the centuries under the guise of social taboos. In such a way, this move of Facebook appears to be a conspiracy to remove a large section from the news of his work.” Opinionpress Team stands with the view of National Dastak and demands the immediate removal of the ban. Cutting off full access to Facebook services to share critical media coverage is a gross violation of human rights and unhealthy practice for democracy.
